New call-forward features for sip:wizard

June 5th, 2007

It’s been a while since the last feature upgrade, so I want to announce a bunch of new features:

  1. cfc: There’s a universal framework for conditional call forwarding. Currently, you can provision an AVP s:cfc with a SIP-URI, which is used for serial forking if the callee rejects the call either explicitely or automatically with any 4xx/5xx/6xx response code. No check is made here, so the call-forward is done for every negative reply. One can easily adapt the feature to distinguish between call-forward on busy, call-forward on no-answer, etc. If accounting is active, there is an accounting entry for each call leg (A to B as “call”, B to C as “cfc”). An arbitrary depth of forwards is possible (all combinations of cfc, cfu or redirect-30x).
  2. redirect-30x: This feature allows to intercept 301/302 redirects and perform a server-side call-forward with proper accounting (forwards are accounted as “cfc”).
  3. xmlrpc: The xmlrpc management interface for OpenSER can be enabled and configured when using this feature.
  4. alias: One can now select between usrloc-based and DB-based alias handling.
  5. acc: The source-leg now also includes a field “call-state”, which is one of “call”, “cfu” or “cfc”.

Feedback, discussions and suggestions for improvement for these features is very much appreciated.

Support for OpenSER 1.2

March 28th, 2007

sip:wizard now also supports OpenSER 1.2. Try it out and give feedback to support@sipwise.com.

New features, Part 2

March 9th, 2007

Three new features and two feature enhancements have been released:

  1. acc-db: Multi-leg accounting is now available. This allows you to account basic calls as well as call forwards into a MySQL backend. If usr-preferences is enabled, the src_leg and dst_leg column of the acc table hold additional information in the form <uuid>|<user>|<domain>. Without usr-preferences, it holds the From- and Request-URI-information in the form <user>@<domain>.
  2. cfu: You can set unconditional call forwarding URIs per user.
  3. clir: You can enable permanent server-side CLIR (anonymization of the From-URI in the form “Anonymous” <sip:anonymous@anonymous.invalid>) per user.
  4. offnet-pstn: A configuration parameter to set rules for routing calls to PSTN has been introduced. You can now set a regular expression to define which non-local Request-URIs are going to be routed to PSTN.
  5. cli: The feature cli-pai for sending a Calling Line Identification has been renamed to cli. You can now choose to send the user’s CLI via P-Asserted-Identity Header and/or Remote-Party-ID Header. Note that also the AVP cli_pai provisioned in the usr_preferences table has been renamed to cli.

On the roadmap for the next feature round are:

  1. Call Forward Busy
  2. Call Forward No Answer (Callee doesn’t pick up the phone within <ring-timeout> seconds)
  3. Call Forward Unavailable (Request to callee times out or callee is offline)

New features, Part 1

February 27th, 2007

Three new features have been released:

  1. user-aliases: You can now assign aliases to local users. This is especially useful for mapping numeric numbers to SIP accounts for PSTN inward dialing.
  2. cli-pai: This feature allows the provisioning of arbitrary SIP URIs, which are inserted into a P-Asserted-Identity Header for outgoing calls. This for example allows the signalling of a numeric CLI to a PSTN gateway (so it’s the opposite of user-aliases).
  3. ring-timeout: You can now dynamically set the ring-timeout (or, more specifically, the fr_inv_timeout) per local callee.

On the roadmap for the next round are:

  1. call-forwarding
  2. multileg-accounting
  3. server-side CLIR

If there is anything else you’d like to see soon, don’t hesitate to post your suggestions.

sip:wise Launch

February 21st, 2007

I’m proud to announce the launch of sip:wise. Its goal is to provide tools for jump-starting VoIP deployments based on Open Source software, especially for Sip Express Router (SER) and Open Sip Express Router (OpenSER). Currently, there is one tool available:

sip:wizard

sip:wizard is the first configuration generator available for SER and OpenSER. At the moment, the only supported Platform is OpenSER 1.1, but more versions are going to be supported in the future. The following list of features is currently available:

  1. Basic Routing (Loose-Routing, Record-Routing etc)
  2. Far-End NAT Traversal for SIP and RTP (for both mediaproxy and rtpproxy)
  3. Offnet-Routing via SIP using ENUM (incoming and outgoing)
  4. Offnet-Routing via PSTN-Gateways (incoming and outgoing)

I hope you’ll find this tool useful. Feedback and Suggestions are very much appreciated.
